What is a VPN?

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a private network of computers that are linked together to share and access private information and data. The VPN is accessed through a public infrastructure (e.g. Internet) and can be described as a virtual link that can only be created by those with authorized access to VPN. VPN data is kept private and secure as it is encrypted. A VPN can also be used to ‘link’ together remote users and offices together that need to share this data.
